Large trade cogs swayed languidly in the dark waters of the Broome merchant quay, hardly disturbed by the waves breaking against the cobbled shoreline. Loading planks, bowing beneath the weight of wine barrels & sailors dotted the dockyards. A saline breeze pressing itself between the massive ships, escaped onto the busy quarter, mingling with fish stands and oddity dealers.
Celeste moved with a natural grace amidst the madness, chasing her shadow towards the city square. She paid the heckling eyes of the tradesman little mind, most of them had nothing of interest anyway, and she preferred to be somewhere less hasty.
She turned right, down a narrow alleyway that veined its way behind the cities amenities. The tavern, the Fletcher, the bobble collector .. she knew them all off hand, drifting effortlessly until crossing the eccentric residence of Aveena Llavamire, the local religious zealot.
The property was lined with an unkempt hedge, too short to award any real privacy, yet too tall to be a mere obstacle.
Celeste traced around it, slipping between the Llavamire overgrowth and the shoemakers parallel.
Her sword scraped against the stonework, a grinding sound that follied her silent entrance. It was a tight fit ..
"Tighter than I remember," she grimaced to herself.
She stumbled into the town square clumsily, catching her foothold, looking about, and laughing to herself at the same time.
She was sure she looked foolish.

Terra walked through the city of Broome, wishing it weren't so crowded. She hated crowds. She hated people she didn't know. She was constantly paranoid about everything and everyone.
Not much longer and I'll be out of here... she reminded herself. She continued to squeeze her way through the crowd, hoping to pass by unnoticed. She passed by a narrow alleyway when she saw a girl about her heights and maybe a little older stumble out. "Watch your step..." she said rudely to the girl. She was getting uneasy in the crowded town square and wanted to get out as soon as possible. And this clumsy girl was doing nothing more than getting in her way.

Celeste was taken aback ..
"Excuse me?!" She asked rhetorically, a feigned lull of suprise in her voice.
She was never one to take abuse, beit verbal or otherwise, and she eyed the rude woman intently.
Save for her long green hair, and brilliant emerald eyes, they were pretty much identical. Celeste stepped forward, tracing a finger down the length of her shortsword ..
"I suggest the beggar apologizes." Her tone had grown moderately darker, a hint of excitement curling the corners of her lips. "Lest these cobbled streets be that last her eyes behold."
It was an empty threat. Celeste wasn't mindless enough to slay a commoner in open view. It was more the rise she'd receive from the abrasive woman that interested her.

"Excuse me?!" said the girl who had fallen. Terra was getting uneasy. Her eyes darkened and the clouds rolled in.
"You're in my way, and I need you to get out of it!"
"I suggest the beggar apologizes. Lest these cobbled streets be that last her eyes behold." The girl's fingers traveled down the sword she carried. Terra slowly reached for hers, ready to defend herself if their quarrel came to that.
Terra felt a raindrop on her face. A few seconds later, it was pouring rain. A boom of thunder was heard and the commoners fled to shelter. Terra stood there, her hand on her unsheathed sword. "I suggest the jester watch what she says, before the last thing she beholds is the flash of lightning and an unforgettable, excruciating pain."
A flash of lightning lit up the sky a few miles away. Terra curled her lips into a grimacing smile.

The woman seemed hardly dissuaded, her tone & eyes growing as dark as Celestes’. The heavens became agitated above them, black, foreboding clouds that heralded an awakening storm.
Many sought cover from the unnatural tempest, retiring beneath stone overhangs or retreating into their homes.
Celeste held her ground, staring back into the eyes of her assailant, partially annoyed, and partially intrigued. Rain stung her face and arms as the storm grew in vigor, the shaded sky milling about in a circular torrent, threatening to unleash its anger upon the town below.
“Your sorcery does not scare me, wood wench.” Celeste’s voice retained its confident nature, her hand moving swiftly to release the bindings on her blade.
A snarl of thunder was her queue. Her fingers lashed around the onyx hilt of her shortsword with practiced agility, pulling it from its sheath in what seemed like lightning itself. The polished steel glowed radiantly in contrast to the two fuming women.
“But how appropriate that you would summon the rain to wash your blood away.” Celeste twisted the blade before the elves shaded face, tauntingly.

Terra was fuming. Did she just call me 'wood wench'?! "I don't mean for my sorcery to scare you' Terra drew her sword, as did the other woman. "I mean for it to kill you." She looked at an overhanging sign above her head. She lept into the air, landing on the pole which was slippery from the pouring rain. She looked to the skies once again and a bolt of lightning shot from the sky, burning the cobbled streets a few feet away from where the other woman was standing. Terra pushed herself off the post with her legs, turning two flips in the air and landing behing the woman. She spun around and faced her. She waited for a reaction...
